1Mine broke and tossed my kanteen  Apr 15, 2009
By W. Gottlieb
It felt cheap and too flexible when I installed it, but I went ahead anyway. From the get-go it rattled and shook with a full 27 oz-er while going over anything but pristine pavement. The other day it seemed to be looser than usual and I had to stop and tighten it. Soon after, I hit a moderate bump and the kanteen was flung from the cage, cascading into traffic and acquiring a severe dent along its journey. Upon further inspection the cage had significant cracking and splitting of the plastic around the mounting holes. What a piece of junk. It's clear nobody bothered to test it.

2Keeps dropping my Klean Kanteen  Sep 19, 2008
By B. Waddington
My main problem with the design is that it keeps dropping my bottle, I'm a pretty active biker and I can't count the number of times I've been going down a hill only to have my Klean Kanteen completely fall out. On the other hand it is essentially the only game in town, so take that as you will.

I love my Klean Kanteen, pretty iffy on the bike cage

3Serves it's purpose, could be designed better  Jun 22, 2008
By jgg204 "Josh"
When I saw that the Klean Kanteen company was backordered on the bike cages, and then Amazon started to carry them, it became clear to me that they were a hot item and I needed to buy some. I went out and purchased 3. I recently installed one of them in the primary bottle cage position (on the diagonal bar) and went to install my original bike cage that came with my bike on the vertical bar. i was struck with surprise that i could not fit the smaller bike cage onto the vertical bar b/c the klean kanteen bike cage was blocking it. i understand that they want to make this fit the majority of bikes, however the designers of it should have taken into consideration that many people have 2 water bottle bike cages on their bike. in my opinion, there should have been more selections for positioning, where as right now there are 2 slits which give some wiggle room, but not enough.

another suggestion is more about their manufacturing process. they need to taper or round off the edges of the top portion of the bike cage because they are tearing away at my 27oz bottle. all it would take is a better design of the mold, or a post-manufacturing process to file down the edges.

other than that, it's a great and cheap way to hold my klean kanteen water bottle. now...wouldn't it be sweet if they made a thin walled hydration-pak? it would obviously be heavier than a camelbak hydration pak, but thin walled stainless steel is pretty light and they could make it built into the back of the backpack. just an idea...

2Dissapointing!  Apr 30, 2011
By Laura Jensen
After I replaced my beat up BPA lined SIGG water bottle with a beautiful blue Kleen Kanteen, I purchased this bike cage for it to keep it looking nice. I always carry my water with me and bike with it every day, so i thought that this plastic cage would protect it from scratches and would hold it securely on my commute. It attached easily to my bike and seemed to be a great fit for the Kleen Kanteen. The very first day i used it, I arrived at school to discover that the cage had already scratched the paint completely off the bottle in a couple of places, and scratched it up around the bottom. Bummer! Every time I use it it mars the finish even more.

To add insult to injury (or maybe the other way round?) I was biking the other day and hit a modestly sized pothole -- 1-2 inches deep -- and the water bottle was flung from my bike to the road into traffic. When I managed to turn back and get it, I found it badly beaten and scratched. My poor water bottle looks like it has been to hell and back in one and a half short months, thanks to this terrible holder. Not worth the investment. I would have been better off saving my money and cramming my new bottle into the aluminum cage I already had.

5Works Great  Nov 12, 2010
By A. Pekema
This thing is great. Some reviews mentioned sharp edges scuffing the Kanteen, so I knocked the corners down with some sand paper. It's been great.
