Klean Kanteen SS cap Jun 06, 2010 It works, hasn't leaked so far. It's larger than the plastic one that came with the bottle, but it overlaps the lip because of this. I noticed a lot of people complaining about water getting inside the cap, but on the back of the package it states
"Stainless Caps should not be submerged or washed in a dishwasher; water under pressure can squeeze inside
Kinda of annoying that this cap seems fragile based on that warning, and the other reviews claiming the plastic eventually came off, but at least it was cheap. Although I may have been a bit more irritated if I didn't basically get this for free. (Added it to get super saver shipping, came out to the same price it would of been if I didn't buy it.)
EDIT: After using this for one day, the cap started leaking. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Changed rating to 1 star, doesn't exactly deserve anything if it can't do its job. ;)
Great cap Feb 08, 2010 Simply put - if you follow the directions on the packaging, it will work just fine for you. Great cap.
I read some of the other reviews on here, and so I only ordered one stainless cap when I ordered my two water bottles. No big deal, but I should have ordered two. The packaging says "do not submerge." So, follow the directions and it will be a great, non-bacteria festering cap for your bottle!
Screws on my bottle just fine and doesn't leak at all. Very pleased!

Junk Jan 06, 2010 Sure. The screw part is metal. BUT. The metal part is just shoved into a plastic top part, AND water and bacteria gets trapped inside. Mine jammed within a couple of weeks, and frankly, the design stinks. Why couldn't they simply construct a fully stainless top? No. They just stuck a stainless screw portion onto a plastic top, which comes apart with some difficulty, and rancid water gets inside, and stinks up the whole inside of the canteen. I went back to the plastic stopper.
Crappy design. Whoever designed this should be fired.
works the best, but should sell this with the new bottles Oct 12, 2009 This bottle top was the original bottle top on the Klean Kanteens, but now the company puts an all plastic version of the original on the top of newly purchased bottles. The new plastic version always leaks when my kids use this bottle, so I have to pay an additional 10 to get the original tops. The company also moved the manufacturing of this bottle to Ch. I did not realize this until after we purchased the new versions.

stainless steel caps Jul 04, 2009 I bough several of these bottles from Klean Kanteen and the bottles showed that they came with the stainless steel caps. when I got the bottles, they were all poly caps and when i wrote to them there was no answer. I called and they didn't want to talk to me and hung up on me and no replies to my phone calls or emails. I really felt cheated especially because they didn't even give me a chance to talk. They have very bad customer service.
