Do not submerge Jul 17, 2008
By suz13 I ordered these as replacements to the plastic lids that came with my kanteens. They came with a "Made in China" sticker on them, so I soaked them in the sink to get the stickers off. They wanted to float, so I had to put something on them to hold them down in the water. A couple of hours later (I got distracted!), I picked them up to scrape off the stickers, and what do I hear but sloshing water... the lids had taken in water, but there was no way to open them up and get it out. All I could think was that the soapy water would be slowly leaking into my drinking water. So... it was back to the plastic lids Klean Kanteen Loop Cap/Polypro for us! (BTW, HealthEGoods was very helpful about returning them).

water trapped inside Nov 10, 2008
By M. Whinnery I purchased several stainless steel caps. The adhesive from the labels wouldn't come off, so I soaked them in soapy water. The expensive lids now have water trapped inside where bacteria can breed. I can't get the water out; the caps are unsafe to use, and I'm out the money.

Leaks like crazy May 29, 2009

I joke that I'm going to singlehandedly ruin the environment by buying new caps, trying to find one that doesn't leak. I have the steel loop cap and it leaks probably about 50% of the time. Somehow the water always finds a way to seek out any electronics in my bag. Maybe some teflon tape will fix it?

Better than the poly loop cap Oct 15, 2008

After reading some negative reviews about the steel cap, I ordered my bottle with the poly cap instead. I was quickly unsatisfied with the poly cap because it retains the smell of whatever soap you used to wash it. I then ordered the steel cap and I found that it was far superior.
Not only does the steel cap wash cleanly without any residue or leftover smell, but it actually covers the entire lip of the bottle opening. The poly cap does not and it leaves this part exposed. This is important because this is where your lips are actually touching when you drink from the bottle.
I only hand-wash my steel cap, so I haven't had any of the water-retention problems that I've read about in other reviews.

Great customer service Jan 04, 2011
By shwerve Initially I ordered this cap and it wasn't quite there, so I left a review here saying as much. Almost immediately, someone from the company got back to me, let me know that they had redesigned the bottle cap to resolve the issues I was having, and immediately shipped one of the new designs to me. The new cap is great--the old one hadn't been making a very good seal, so the bottle leaked and the cap could slip off, especially if you carried the bottle by the loop. The new cap appears to have fixed these issues completely. Also, re: the above reviews, there was no adhesive or sticker of any kind on either of the caps I received.
