 Plastic Collar Breaks Easily--Not for Babies/Toddlers Aug 17, 2010
The product is great in concept: less plastic, indestructable metal bottle, sippy feature. Sounded good to us, too, for our child of 1 years old. But the plastic collar (the one exposed on the outside of the bottle) is too brittle for the types of abuse inflicted by babies and toddlers. Not long after we purchased our Kleen Kanteen, our son dropped the bottle from a few feet up (I was holding him), causing the collar to crack. A cracked collar means that the liquid held within the bottle will drip out and, in our case, causing juice stains on clothes. The first time it broke, we contacted the manufacturer and informed them of the defect. To their credit, they promptly sent us a replacement collar. Unfortunately, this collar lasted a few months, but then cracked again after another mishandling. Mind you, these drops were the types of blows toddlers regularly inflict upon objects in hand. I would not purchase this product for a younger child. A better alternative is the Thermos Foogo, which we've had since our toddlers first few months. This product has not broken once.

Pros - Stainless Steel, easy grip for little kids to hold, cleans nicely
Cons - Avent adapter leaks when left on it's side, about $5 overpriced, a tad small (wish it was 2 oz bigger. My 4 yr old empties it really quickly).

This is a great sippy cup, and I don't have leaking problems like some other reviewers. But beware! This listing doesn't come with the sippy part, you'll have to purchase separately.

Love this bottle for my daughter. I wanted something BPA free and was excited to see they made this in a size for her. The reason I only gave 4 stars and not five was because the spout is for 12+ months and that wasn't noted anywhere. My daughter is 6 months and can't use it, so I have to order the correct age spout.
